St. James offers several educational options for youth and children of all ages offered throughout the year. Due to COVID-19, some of our offerings are on-hold but we recently held a youth led worship service on Mother’s Day – see photos below. For more information, see details below or contact the church office at or (480)345-2686.

Confirmation Class

A seven week class to prepare the youth of St. James for their confirmation to the Episcopal Church. Adults can join in as well! We haven’t scheduled a class for 2021 as of yet, so please contact the church office if you are interested in learning more.

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC or Youth Group) for 6th through 12th graders is designed to help youth explore and deepen their relationship with Christ, strengthen their faith and knowledge of the Church and equip them for discipleship and Christian leadership in their communities. This group meets monthly on the third Sunday of each month at 10:30am (after the worship service) in the library.

Godly Play

Children of all ages are invited to join our Godly Play enrichment experience. Godly Play is engaged in our Godly Play classroom. Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to authentically explore their faith, through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play enrichment method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. Godly Play plans to resume once we’re worshipping in person with both services.

Sunday School

Each session includes fellowship, a Bible story, a game, music and craft designed to reinforce their connection with God’s Word. Sunday School is taking a break for the summer but will resume in then fall.

Vacation Bible School

St. James is proud to offer this one week Vacation Bible Study (VBS) at no charge to our community. VBS is traditionally held in June each year but due to COVID-19, will not be held in 2021.
