Sunday Worship Service

Every Sunday morning at 9:30am we celebrate a joyful worship service. Following CDC and Diocesan guidelines, we socially distance and wear masks and our Rite II liturgical service hits all the right notes. Our music consists of traditional hymns from the 1982 hymnal and contemporary songs accompanied by a combination of organ, piano, flute, guitar, strings, clarinet and drums. Communion of both kinds is offered (wine and wafer).

For those that are unable to join us in person, we stream our service to Facebook and YouTube. See Online Services section for more details. If you would like to learn more, please contact the church office at office@stjamestempe.org or (480)345-2686.

Centering Prayer

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer; prayer in which we experience God’s presence. Every Wednesday at 4pm in the sanctuary at St. James we follow the following format for our worship, learning and fellowship:

4:00pm – Prayer and Meditation

4:45pm – Fellowship

After Centering Prayer, we hold a Bible Study every Wednesday at 5pm in the St. James library.

Taize

Taize service is a meditative, peaceful series of simple sung verses, prayers and a short reading. With life’s fast pace, this experience will instill peace in any noisy heart. Taize is offered the last Wednesday of each month at 5pm.
